First Shot is an independent publication run by James Spence, who has spent the past 35 years working in global financial markets. First Shot was established in 2004 as a publishing business in Hong Kong and today operates from London as a repository of articles and interviews, mainly about markets, economies and geopolitics. Some of the posts will tackle other subjects: ancient cultures, modern society, the life of the mind, writers, archtecture, travel, art, film, food, sports and ecology.
